Road Traffic and Motoring Advice

Solicitor-led advice, drafting and preparation support for motorists dealing with speeding, section 172 requests, Single Justice Procedure Notices and other road-traffic allegations, without Phrasing Ltd conducting the criminal proceedings.

Defined task.We agree exactly what we will do before work begins.
Clear fee.Fixed or estimated pricing is confirmed in advance where possible.
Clear boundary. If the work becomes reserved or separately regulated, we identify the appropriate route.

How we may assist

  • Initial review of notices, police correspondence and prosecution papers
  • Advice on speeding allegations, section 172 requests and driver-identification issues
  • Draft representations to police, prosecutors or relevant authorities where appropriate
  • Assistance preparing your own response to a Single Justice Procedure Notice
  • Mitigation statements, personal-circumstances summaries and supporting-document schedules
  • Preparation for a magistrates’ court hearing where you remain responsible for the case or another authorised advocate is instructed

When this service may be useful

  • You have received a notice requiring driver information and are unsure how to respond.
  • A Single Justice Procedure Notice has arrived and you need the allegation, deadline and plea options explained.
  • You want to make representations before a prosecution decision or hearing.
  • You need mitigation or an organised evidence pack but Phrasing Legal will not be appearing as your advocate.

What you can expect

We focus on the specific legal task you want completed. We review the available information, identify any important date, clarify the outcome you are seeking and then confirm the proposed work before substantive time is incurred.

  • Written case assessment
  • Draft representations or mitigation
  • Document and evidence checklist
  • Clear explanation of any step requiring an authorised criminal-litigation or advocacy provider

How it works

  1. Send the essentials: a concise summary, the key document and any deadline.
  2. Suitability check: we assess whether the requested task falls within our lawful and professional scope.
  3. Scope and price: we confirm what is included, important exclusions, who will undertake or supervise the work and the fee or charging basis.
  4. Advice or drafting: we complete the agreed work and explain the practical next step.
  5. Referral where required: if reserved, separately regulated or specialist work is needed, we explain that clearly rather than extending the service beyond its proper scope.

Guide fees for this service

These guide prices apply to clearly defined work of ordinary complexity. Before substantive work begins, we confirm the task, the person providing or supervising it and the price or charging basis in writing. Consumer prices are shown inclusive of VAT where VAT applies.

Initial motoring case review £225–£350
Police / prosecutor representations £300–£500
SJPN response or plea / mitigation drafting £250–£400
Detailed mitigation / disqualification preparation £400–£650

Urgency, unusually large document volumes, additional conferences or work outside the agreed scope may require a revised quote. We will normally agree that with you before carrying out the additional work.

Scope and regulatory limits

Phrasing Legal does not conduct criminal litigation or exercise rights of audience through Phrasing Ltd. Advice, drafting and preparation can be provided as a discrete service, but you remain responsible for formal court steps and deadlines unless an appropriately authorised provider separately accepts them. Urgent motoring deadlines should be identified immediately.

Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
