How we may assist
- Identify, at a general triage level, the type of immigration or nationality enquiry so an appropriate regulated route can be found
- Signpost or refer enquiries about visit, family, work, study, settlement, nationality or asylum matters to an appropriately authorised provider
- Help organise non-advisory background documents for a referral where doing so does not amount to regulated immigration advice or services
- Explain why immigration advice is subject to a separate statutory regulatory regime
- Coordinate with a separately instructed authorised provider where the client requests this and responsibilities are clearly divided
When this service may be useful
- You need immigration advice and want to identify an appropriately authorised adviser.
- You have documents ready but need to know which regulated provider should assess the application, review or appeal.
- Your matter involves immigration alongside a separate unreserved issue that Phrasing Legal can lawfully assist with.
What you can expect
We focus on the specific legal task you want completed. We review the available information, identify any important date, clarify the outcome you are seeking and then confirm the proposed work before substantive time is incurred.
- Regulatory-route signposting
- Authorised-provider referral where available
- Non-advisory document organisation where lawful
- Clear confirmation of which provider is responsible for any immigration advice or service
How it works
- Send the essentials: a concise summary, the key document and any deadline.
- Suitability check: we assess whether the requested task falls within our lawful and professional scope.
- Scope and price: we confirm what is included, important exclusions, who will undertake or supervise the work and the fee or charging basis.
- Advice or drafting: we complete the agreed work and explain the practical next step.
- Referral where required: if reserved, separately regulated or specialist work is needed, we explain that clearly rather than extending the service beyond its proper scope.
Immigration enquiries: regulatory position and fees
Phrasing Legal does not quote for substantive immigration advice, application preparation or representation through Phrasing Ltd unless the required lawful authorisation, registration or exemption has been verified for that work. An appropriately authorised provider will confirm its own scope and charges directly.
General signposting or referral does not create an immigration-advice retainer with Phrasing Legal. Official information is available from the SRA immigration work guidance and the Immigration Advice Authority.
| General signposting / authorised-provider referral | No substantive immigration-advice fee charged by Phrasing Legal |
| Immigration advice or application work | Quoted only by the appropriately authorised provider |
Scope and regulatory limits
Phrasing Ltd is not an SRA-authorised law firm. SRA guidance restricts the circumstances in which a solicitor may provide immigration work to the public, and the solicitor’s individual SRA status does not by itself authorise Phrasing Ltd to offer immigration advice. Phrasing Legal will not accept substantive immigration instructions through Phrasing Ltd unless the required lawful authorisation, registration or exemption has first been verified and the client is told clearly which regulated provider is responsible.
Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
