Clear boundary. If the work becomes reserved or separately regulated, we identify the appropriate route.

How we may assist

  • Contract review and explanation of key rights, obligations and risk
  • Letters before action and reasoned responses
  • Complaints about defective goods, services or non-performance
  • Payment, cancellation, refund and termination disputes
  • Settlement proposals and negotiation support
  • Schedules of payments, losses and supporting documents

When this service may be useful

  • A supplier, customer or contractor says an agreement has been breached.
  • You paid for goods or services that were not supplied as agreed.
  • You have received a demand and need to understand whether and how it should be disputed.
  • You want to explore settlement before deciding whether to issue or defend proceedings yourself.

What you can expect

We focus on the specific legal task you want completed. We review the available information, identify any important date, clarify the outcome you are seeking and then confirm the proposed work before substantive time is incurred.

  • Written assessment of the key documents
  • Draft pre-action letter or response
  • Settlement wording where appropriate
  • Evidence and loss schedule support

How it works

  1. Send the essentials: a concise summary, the key document and any deadline.
  2. Suitability check: we assess whether the requested task falls within our lawful and professional scope.
  3. Scope and price: we confirm what is included, important exclusions, who will undertake or supervise the work and the fee or charging basis.
  4. Advice or drafting: we complete the agreed work and explain the practical next step.
  5. Referral where required: if reserved, separately regulated or specialist work is needed, we explain that clearly rather than extending the service beyond its proper scope.

Guide fees for this service

These guide prices apply to clearly defined work of ordinary complexity. Before substantive work begins, we confirm the task, the person providing or supervising it and the price or charging basis in writing. Consumer prices are shown inclusive of VAT where VAT applies.

Consumer or contract dispute letter £225–£400
Simple contract review £250–£450
Advice letter following document review from £225
Loss / payment schedule £200–£400

Urgency, unusually large document volumes, additional conferences or work outside the agreed scope may require a revised quote. We will normally agree that with you before carrying out the additional work.

Scope and regulatory limits

Phrasing Legal does not issue, serve, prosecute or defend court proceedings for you through Phrasing Ltd. Any court proceedings remain your responsibility unless an appropriately authorised litigation provider separately accepts them. Regulated claims-management services are outside scope unless the required permission exists.

Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
