Financial Separation, Settlement and Consent Order Support

Advice and negotiation support for separating spouses or partners who need to understand assets, liabilities, voluntary disclosure and settlement options, including practical preparation for an agreed financial consent order without Phrasing Legal preparing or filing the formal court order.

Defined task.We agree exactly what we will do before work begins.
Clear fee.Fixed or estimated pricing is confirmed in advance where possible.
Clear boundary. If the work becomes reserved or separately regulated, we identify the appropriate route.

How we may assist

  • Initial advice about financial issues arising on divorce or separation
  • Organisation and review of voluntary financial disclosure and supporting documents
  • Schedules of assets, liabilities, income and relevant financial information
  • Advice on settlement proposals, negotiation strategy and written responses to offers
  • Preparation of detailed heads of terms or a memorandum of agreed financial settlement for later formalisation
  • Preparation of a consent-order handover pack identifying the agreed terms and documents for an authorised family-law practice
  • Identification of pensions, businesses, property, tax or valuation issues requiring specialist advice

When this service may be useful

  • You and your former partner want to exchange financial information voluntarily before court proceedings.
  • You have received a settlement proposal and want solicitor-led advice before responding.
  • You want to organise assets and liabilities clearly before mediation or negotiation.
  • You have reached an agreement in principle and want the terms recorded clearly before the formal consent order is prepared.
  • You want a structured handover to an authorised family-law practice for the final consent order and court application.

  • Asset/liability schedule
  • Settlement advice or proposal
  • Heads of terms / memorandum of agreed settlement
  • Consent-order handover instructions and document checklist
  • Referral plan for formal consent-order or litigation work where required

AUTHORISED NEXT STEP

When a regulated law firm is required

If this matter needs formal regulated representation, possible referral routes may include Lexnova Solicitors LLP (SRA No. 8008259) or Solomon Ross Solicitors (SRA No. 668302), subject to suitability, your informed choice and each firm’s independent acceptance.

You are not required to use either firm. Any referral is subject to your informed consent and the receiving firm’s independent conflict, onboarding, competence and risk checks. The receiving firm issues its own client-care letter, confirms its own fees and regulatory protections, and does not become responsible for your matter or any deadline until it expressly accepts instructions.

How it works

  1. Send the essentials: a concise summary, the key document and any deadline.
  2. Suitability check: we assess whether the requested task falls within our lawful and professional scope.
  3. Scope and price: we confirm what is included, important exclusions, who will undertake or supervise the work and the fee or charging basis.
  4. Advice or drafting: we complete the agreed work and explain the practical next step.
  5. Referral where required: if reserved, separately regulated or specialist work is needed, we explain that clearly rather than extending the service beyond its proper scope.

Guide fees for this service

These guide prices apply to clearly defined work of ordinary complexity. Before substantive work begins, we confirm the task, the person providing or supervising it and the price or charging basis in writing. Your written quote will confirm the VAT treatment and the total price payable before substantive work begins. Please complete the VAT setting in Appearance → Customise for a definitive public statement.

Initial financial-separation advice £175–£250
Voluntary disclosure / document review £350–£650
Asset and liability schedule £300–£550
Settlement proposal / response £350–£650
Negotiation and heads of terms / agreed-settlement memorandum £450–£750

Urgency, unusually large document volumes, additional conferences or work outside the agreed scope may require a revised quote. We will normally agree that with you before carrying out the additional work.

Scope and regulatory limits

Phrasing Legal does not issue or conduct financial remedy proceedings and does not file Form A or other court documents as your representative. Phrasing Legal may help negotiate and document an agreement in heads of terms, but it does not prepare the final Family Court consent order for filing, take responsibility for the D81/application package or submit the consent-order application. Those formal court-stage tasks should be undertaken through an appropriately authorised practice. Pension implementation and specialist tax, valuation, trust or conveyancing work may also require another specialist provider.

Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
