How we may assist
- Receive the Home Office letter or decision for factual identification and routing
- Record the date of the correspondence and flag any stated response, review or appeal deadline
- Identify the broad type of issue without advising on merits, eligibility or the legal effect of the document
- With consent, refer or forward the correspondence to an appropriately authorised immigration provider for substantive review
- Signpost to the Immigration Advice Authority Adviser Finder where another authorised provider is preferred
When this service may be useful
- You have received a Home Office letter and are unsure what type of immigration issue it concerns.
- The correspondence states a response, review, appeal or reporting deadline and you need prompt routing.
- You want an authorised immigration adviser or law firm to assess the legal effect of a Home Office decision or request.
- You need the key correspondence forwarded to an authorised provider with a concise factual referral summary.
What you can expect
We focus on the specific legal task you want completed. We review the available information, identify any important date, clarify the outcome you are seeking and then confirm the proposed work before substantive time is incurred.
- Factual identification of the correspondence
- Deadline flagging from the face of the document
- Authorised-provider referral where available and consented to
- Administrative forwarding of the Home Office document
- Clear confirmation that legal assessment is carried out only by the separately instructed authorised provider
How the referral process works
- Tell us the broad issue: identify the visa, status, Home Office decision or protection issue if you know it, and tell us any deadline.
- Factual routing only: we use the information only to identify the broad category and appropriate regulated route; we do not assess legal merits or eligibility.
- Signposting or referral: we may direct you to the IAA Adviser Finder or, with your consent, refer you to a suitable authorised provider where a referral route is available.
- Separate acceptance: the authorised provider independently decides whether it can accept your matter and completes its own checks and client-care process.
- Advice and fees come from that provider: substantive immigration advice, application preparation, representations or appeal work are then supplied under that provider’s separate retainer.
Immigration enquiries: referral-only fee position
Phrasing Legal does not charge for initial immigration routing, general signposting or an authorised-provider referral. Phrasing Legal does not provide substantive immigration advice, application preparation, representations or appeal work. If you choose to instruct the authorised provider, that provider will confirm its own scope, regulatory protections and charges directly.
Official information is available from the SRA immigration work guidance, the Immigration Advice Authority and the IAA Adviser Finder.
| Home Office correspondence identification / deadline flagging for referral | No charge |
| Authorised-provider referral and administrative document forwarding | No charge |
| Substantive legal assessment, representations, review or appeal work | Quoted separately by the authorised provider |
Scope and regulatory limits
Phrasing Legal does not interpret the legal effect of Home Office correspondence, advise how to respond, assess prospects or eligibility, draft immigration representations, correspond with the Home Office as immigration representative or conduct an immigration review or appeal. Those services require a separately instructed appropriately authorised immigration provider.
Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
