How we may assist
- Receive factual background about residence, current status and the broad settlement or nationality objective for referral purposes
- Identify the category without advising whether residence, absence, good-character or other requirements are satisfied
- Signpost or refer to an appropriately authorised immigration or nationality provider
- Forward key documents with consent where the task is purely administrative
When this service may be useful
- You want regulated advice about indefinite leave to remain or long residence.
- You are considering naturalisation or registration as a British citizen.
- Your immigration history, absences or character issues mean you need individual advice before applying.
What you can expect
We focus on the specific legal task you want completed. We review the available information, identify any important date, clarify the outcome you are seeking and then confirm the proposed work before substantive time is incurred.
- Settlement/nationality category routing
- Authorised-provider referral where available
- Factual referral summary
- Administrative document forwarding where lawful
How the referral process works
- Tell us the broad issue: identify the visa, status, Home Office decision or protection issue if you know it, and tell us any deadline.
- Factual routing only: we use the information only to identify the broad category and appropriate regulated route; we do not assess legal merits or eligibility.
- Signposting or referral: we may direct you to the IAA Adviser Finder or, with your consent, refer you to a suitable authorised provider where a referral route is available.
- Separate acceptance: the authorised provider independently decides whether it can accept your matter and completes its own checks and client-care process.
- Advice and fees come from that provider: substantive immigration advice, application preparation, representations or appeal work are then supplied under that provider’s separate retainer.
Immigration enquiries: referral-only fee position
Phrasing Legal does not charge for initial immigration routing, general signposting or an authorised-provider referral. Phrasing Legal does not provide substantive immigration advice, application preparation, representations or appeal work. If you choose to instruct the authorised provider, that provider will confirm its own scope, regulatory protections and charges directly.
Official information is available from the SRA immigration work guidance, the Immigration Advice Authority and the IAA Adviser Finder.
| Settlement / citizenship routing / authorised-provider referral | No charge |
| Case-specific ILR, settlement or nationality work | Quoted separately by the authorised provider |
Scope and regulatory limits
Phrasing Legal does not advise whether you meet settlement, continuous-residence, absence, good-character, nationality or discretionary requirements and does not prepare or submit the application.
Whether an activity is reserved or separately regulated depends on the substance of the work, not merely the name used for the service. We therefore assess the requested task before accepting instructions.
Discuss this service
