We aim to make the cost of a defined task clear before substantive work begins. The figures below are guide professional fees for work of ordinary complexity. Consumer prices are displayed inclusive of VAT where VAT applies. Any third-party cost is identified separately.
30-minute consultation
£75
Suitable for a focused preliminary discussion where the issue and documents are limited.
60-minute consultation
£125
A fuller appointment to discuss the problem, review key material and identify practical next steps.
Hourly work
£225 per hour
Used where a fixed fee is not appropriate. We normally provide an estimate, staged budget or agreed spending limit before work starts.
Suitability before substantive work
If you send a short summary and the key document, we can usually assess whether the requested task appears to fall within Phrasing Legal’s scope before you commit to substantive work. A detailed legal assessment may require a paid consultation.

Immigration enquiries
Immigration advice and immigration services are separately regulated. Phrasing Legal does not quote for substantive immigration advice, application work or representation through Phrasing Ltd unless the required lawful authorisation, registration or exemption has been verified. Any appropriately authorised provider will confirm its own scope and charges.
What affects the final fee?
Document volume, urgency, complexity, the number of issues, additional conferences, negotiation work and tasks outside the agreed scope can affect the price. If the scope changes materially, we will normally agree a revised fee or budget before carrying out the additional work.
Third-party costs
Court fees, barristers’ fees, experts, process servers, translators, specialist reports and other third-party charges are not included unless expressly stated. Where appropriate, you may be asked to pay a third party directly.
Payment and cancellation
Consultations and fixed-fee tasks may require payment in advance. Any applicable consumer cancellation rights, and the consequences of asking us to begin work during a cancellation period, will be explained in the engagement terms where relevant.
A fixed fee has a fixed scope
A fixed fee covers the work identified in the written scope. It does not automatically include later correspondence, court filing, negotiation, a hearing, additional drafts or work created by new developments unless those items are expressly included.
